Lavender is  at its peak at the moment and its a great time to harvest the Lavender flowers (whilst retaining some for the Bees) before the sun draws too many of  the fragrant essential oils from the Lavender flowers.    So what can we do with our Lavender?  Well here are a few ideas:

When the Lavender flowers are past their best, its best to give them a trim as this will help the plant concentrate its energy on its roots and shoots and this should help the plant produce bushy ball like shrubs that flower well the following year.  A further trim will also be required in September.

The shop at GardensRus presently stock both English and French Lavender in 8cm pots at £2.99 per pot. For further details or to order,  please go to www.gardens-r-us.scot/product/lavender-8cm/

Plants that go well with Lavender include Echinacea, Aster, Sedum, Baby’s Breath, Drought tolerant Roses, Gaura, Penstemon, Agastache.
