Creating a child friendly garden can be very important, especially if the children are very young.
Having an uncluttered soft bouncy lawn edged with soft shrubs such as Santolina, Ribes, Wiegela, Rosemary, Philadelphus, getting rid of any split canes or spiky plant supports, having a lockup shed, and filling in ponds (even shallow ones) will help ensure that the children come to no harm when in the garden.
Having a low maintenance garden and installing artificial grass is another option as in the picture here which was landscaped by GardensRUs.
It is also worth checking whether any of the garden plants may be poisonous or may be a danger in any other way:
Plants to be aware of are:
– Toxic Plants
Daffodils
Yew
Helleborus
Larkspur
Spindle (Berries)
Symphoricarpos (Berries)
Scilla (including Bluebells)
Wisteria (pea like pods and seeds)
Hyacinths
Laurel
Foxgloves
Iris
Brugsmansia
Laburnum (pods and seeds)

Caster Oil Plant
– Prickly Plants
